Who we are

Single Friendly Church Network want to see all churches become places where single people feel welcomed, valued and included. We were formed as a result of research commissioned by Christian Connection focusing on the experiences of single people in church. Findings from 3,000+ single Christians overwhelmingly highlighted common themes of people feeling excluded, hurt, isolated and unwelcome, to the point that some had left church altogether. We encourage churches to embrace 5 Steps to become a Single Friendly Church.

Jackie Elton our founder says

I encourage churches to get in touch with us - it is not difficult to change

As an adult single person I’ve always been aware that people often make assumptions and judgments, sometimes disparaging and overlooking single people and regarding them as objects of pity or “sad”. So when I saw from research results that many single Christians across the Country were expressing feelings of isolation or rejection by the Church I couldn’t stand it.

I want Churches to be places where single people can feel that they belong and are truly welcomed, equal and respected. So I decided to create Single Friendly Church Network, and hope that we can truly start to make a difference both for individual single Christians and to how Churches look and feel.
